“Resting”

                                                            by Kenny Fedder

Lord, here I am again today, in need of peaceful rest

And knowing who’s the source of peace and whose advice is best

With fears off in the distance, yet visions of the worst

A thousand voices crying out, my mind about to burst

I look around for quiet, a calm and restful place

Where I can sit and rest awhile and seek your smiling face

From the tiny atoms power, to oceans wide and deep

The human ear so tender and eyes that close to sleep

With brains that help us reason, we try to understand

The purpose of our journey, in line with your commands

Now I see some cool green grass, that’s calling out my name.

And a rock on which to lay my head, so I will do the same

As those who came before me, I’ll rest here on your love

That’s pure and changeless for all time, with mercy from above

I’ll close my eyes while smiling, remembering the past.

The way you’ve been so faithful, your love will always last.

Through trials past and present, you met my every need

When evil seeks to take a hold, your word still plants a seed

Reminding me where help comes from, so I can truly know

Whatever may befall me, in fields of hope I sow.

So I can harvest blessings, from the one who gave it all

Then asked for me to join Him, just listen for the call.

He’s here and waiting patiently, amid the tall green grass.

Come lay and rest a little while, where time will slowly pass.

Just gaze upon His beauty, with troubles round about

And watch them quickly fade away, of this I have no doubt
