“ Altar Ego “

Temptation here, temptation there, temptation everywhere

The devil knows just what I like if only I would dare

To fill myself with selfish pride, do everything for me.

No one controls the way I think cause all my thoughts are free

To rage and brew inside my head, to grow and multiply.

The treasures that I dream about are there for me to try!

Nothing to stop me on this road, no one to block my way;

No friends are there to listen, to help me through rough days.

I have this hunger deep within; I can’t control the urge.

I need some help to break away; this habit needs a purge.

Well, I’m here to support you, help you put on the brakes.

Cause I’m not prefect, just like you, I’ve made my own mistakes.

But know where you can find a friend who’ll take you as you are.

He won’t bring up the bruises, won’t talk about the scars.

And wants to meet you where you are to help you find the way

To leave your past behind you and you can start today.

I have this friend who’ll love you and hold you by the hand.

An example we can follow, His footsteps in the sand.

This friend I have is Jesus, the Father’s only son.

He’ll walk with you through battles, the wars already won.

So if you’re searching for a change, just ask and He’ll be there

To wipe away your tears and fears and prove He’s always here

To listen to your every word until the morning light.

Because He holds you in His heart; you’re precious in His sight.

Using grace to make you new and take your every sin.

Sending them so very far, they’re never seen again.

Honest prayer from a broken heart is what He longs to hear.

For his love will take away your every doubt and fear.

Just meet Him at the altar to give yourself away.

Pray “Change me from the inside Lord, come in my heart to stay.”
