My Child
by Kenny Fedder
I remember when your world was small; it meant turn left or right.
Then watched your mind begin to grow, your choice was day or night.
With great desire to learn new things, oh time was on your side.
So you tried, failed, then got it right, with smile so broad and wide.
And you wanted my approval, for everything you did
Because I was your father and you were just my kid.
But as the years kept rolling by, you made me oh so proud
Whether we were all alone or standing in a crowd.
You see, you have a loving heart and rarely think of self.
When pride and ego rises up, you put them on a shelf.
You learned true patience taught you from troubles, trials and pain
And grew in knowledge of real love, you’ll never be the same
As the little child who came to me and asked me what to do.
For now you teach what’s right and wrong, the light inside you grew.
And so I truly want to shout, I love you more today.
You’ve made this world a better place and I just have to say
I love you cause of who you are and who you came to be…
A loving, kind and special child that means the world to me.
And yes my child, Christ loves you too and helped me guide your walk.
He waits for you so patiently and wants to have a talk
About the special things you’ll do, as doors are opened wide
You’ll truly know the author of the love you have inside.
