“ A Bridge “

by Kenny Fedder

While walking down a pathway, the darkness takes my sight

For suddenly the path has stopped, there is no left or right.

I look below at jagged rocks, the crashing waves I hear

Moving not from where I am; I’m sensing only fear.

I gaze across the great divide, and I can barely see

The other side of this abyss and what is there for me.

I know I need a way to cross, what can there really be

To close the widening gap now set between my God and me.

I have few tools to work with; my strength is all but gone;

If I could rest a little while, till darkness turns to dawn.

I look above and now I see a star begin to glow

And I can hear a whisper as breezes start to blow.

“You are my child, I care for you, I’ll be right by your side;

I’ll show you now the only way, for I shall be your guide”

The wind it blows, the star it grows, it has become great light.

The tiny star that glittered then, is shining oh so bright.

Then coming down before me, the cross of Christ I see.

A bridge of everlasting light was planned for you and me.

A thousand stars are shining now, before me only light.

Death and darkness are no more; Christ’s blood has made me right.

Before my Heavenly Father, with mercy from above

The cross, my bridge and pathway to everlasting love.
