“RISE”

by Kenny Fedder

I’m crawling through the ashes, smoke burning in my eyes.

My worlds on fire everywhere, I’m living in my lies.

I’ve hurt so many people; I’m covered in my shame.

I need a hand to lift me up, remove me from this pain.

But see no one who really cares about the shape I’m in.

I only have myself to blame; my hope is growing dim.

I’ve made this bed I’m sleeping in; where do I go from here?

All alone and need some help for hope has turned to fear.

While standing in the cinders from everything I’ve done.

Burning embers all around left from this race I’ve run.

What’s next along my journey; how can I rise again?

Where to go to escape the pain, remove me from my sin?

Well, I know a destination to leave your past behind.

Not have it always follow you as you move down the line.

A place we call amazing grace, Christ’s gift for you and me.

Where we are reborn again, to become all we can be.

So take your gift and use His grace to get a fresh new start.

Thanking Him for what He’s done; embrace Him in your heart.

Wounds you have will soon be healed; you’re in a better place.

You’ll rise from all the ashes, lifted up by the arms of grace.
