” JOYFUL SONGS “
by Kenny Fedder
I stayed out late, to celebrate, the dawning of a new year.
Ate very little, drank too much, with friends I hold so dear.
Early morning I crawled in bed, to try and get some sleep.
But with my head still pounding, it never got too deep.
And as I searched for silence, I heard a joyful sound.
Two birds were singing cheerfully and so I looked around.
For anything to feed the birds, an early morning treat.
Thinking they’d be quieter, with something they could eat.
So I opened up the window, as one bird flew away.
And spread some crumbs along the sill and seen a sunny day.
But then the bird began to chirp, as I turned to go to bed.
I reached and slammed the window, but missed his tiny head.
Later on the birds returned and ate their little snack.
And me, I’ve since resolved myself; I’ll not be going back.
For using lack of self-control, can be a real disaster.
For joyful songs will usually bring, big smiles and lots of laughter.
Truly there’s a lesson here, that’s ringing in my ear.
Let all the birds sing joyful songs, go easy on the beer.
