“Reflections”
by Kenny Fedder
We all have books that we could write, all filled with good and bad.
With lots of smiles and laughter, some thoughts that make us sad.
Remembrance of bright sunny skies, some with dark clouds of gray.
Life is full of mixed emotions, changing throughout our days.
Pages full of memories, Oh I remember when.
Things I never should have done, while some I’d do again.
Times I try to remember, some I long to forget.
Yearning to recall the details about past years and yet.
Reflections are good to the point of thinking where we’ve been
Those bad decisions remind us, let’s not do that again.
But remembering the people who filled our lives each day
Is the best way of looking back, they helped us find our way.
We may have been touched by kindness, or lifted up by their smile.
Renewed again by thoughtfulness, they walked that extra mile.
Goodness showed though undeserved, to teach us of God’s grace.
While others talked behind our back and rarely face to face
Some lifted us up with mercy, while others turned away.
Still others stayed through thick and thin, while others wouldn’t say
Words we needed to move us on, to where we were meant to be.
Family and friends still here today, while some have been set free.
From this land to another place, where sadness is no more.
Pain and suffering gone forever, they’ve reached the sandy shore.
But memories remind us all of the faces in our past.
The holes they filled in our lives, roles for which they were cast.
Oh, one day we’ll all meet again and talk about those times.
The ways we touched each others lives, the wonder and the signs.
We learned from Christ our savior, who died to set us free.
To be the loving people, He prepared us all to be.
