”  From Darkness into Grace  “

by Kenny Fedder

One Arizona winter night, a dream appeared to me.

Standing there in the darkness, no shadows could I see.

For there was no light above me, no sounds to touch my ear.

The air began to chill my back, as silence brought me fear.

Then instantly it touched my heart, that I was all alone.

A feeling of deep emptiness, so my heart began to moan.

But then I heard a whisper sound, the soft and tender kind.

Not understanding what it was, it wandered through my mind.

Then suddenly before me, a tiny spark of light.

Way out there in a distant place, just barely in my sight.

I stretched the focus of my eyes, imagining where it’s from.

What is the purpose of this light? Why has it even come?

Then thought, what would our lives be like, with no light to help us see.

An empty void of darkness, nowhere I’d want to be.

That’s what our lives were all about, before we found God’s grace.

Meaningless life with no forever, a nothing kind of place,

We led our lives with no regard, for why we’re even here.

Existing each and every day, just fighting through our fears.

A murky dark existence, a lonely senseless space.

No where I’d ever want to go, no room for love and grace.

The vision was reminding me, the depth of all God’s love.

From the very start He planned for us, with sun and moon above.

The beauty and the splendor, the mountains, skies and seas.

So we would search to find Him, midst all His majesty.

Cause if you want to know Him, look for Him while you walk.

He’s right there waiting patiently and wants to have a talk.

About how much He loves you, forgiveness to set you free.

From all you’ve done or ever do, to where you need to be.

Cause we humans are not perfect, no matter how we try.

Not created to be puppets, God gave free will, that’s why.

We need God’s grace and mercy, to take away our sin.

Removing all our dirt and shame, so new life can begin.

The amazing depths of our God’s love, is hard for us to grasp.

His grace brings love so undeserved, a gift so true and vast.

Blood washed away our every stain and cleansed us like a soap.

Grace pursues us through the darkness, to bring us joy and hope.
