“ Listen “
by Kenny Fedder

I’m really good at talking Lord; you’ve heard my every need.
But I’m not so good at listening and so you plant the seed
To read your word and understand your passion and your grace,
That you bestowed on all of us, who seek your holy face.
Cause you made us in our likeness and looking for a trace
Of who you are and what you’ve done we found amazing grace.
You gave us hearts that can believe and minds to understand.
We were made for relationships, with you and our fellow man.
We’ve eyes to see your glory; we’ve ears to hear your words
And a voice to sing your praises, proclaiming all we’ve heard.
Many times we feel your presence; we know you’re here with us.
You promised to never leave us, in this we all can trust.
We believe the words you spoke on earth and speak to us today.
Learning how to live our lives, you teach the only way.
And yet we long to hear your voice, we listen for our name.
While we are all so different, we’re really all the same.
Created in your image, we want to learn and grow.
Then live our lives for you my Lord, our gratitude to show.
Help us to learn our purpose and draw us to your side.
For going down the road of life, there are bumps along our ride.
We know your words are seldom heard amid the clanging noise.
In the rising sun and morning dew we hear your gentle voice
And also from the smiles and hugs of friends we’re blessed to know.
And for those needing a helping hand, we’ll listen and we’ll go.
Let us pray continually through sorrows and delights
And learn to listen in the silence for your whispers in the night.
